Tomahawks Dominate Over-Matched Bolts Saturday

April 23, 2023 Brian Ptashinski

NESCOPECK - After the Bolts pulled within a point at 7-6 in the opening quarter of Saturday's Great Eastern Football Association (GEFA) 8-man semi-pro football game along the banks of Susquehanna River in this sleepy southern Luzerne County community. The Tomahawks would score the next 76 points and routed the host team by a 83-6 score.

The Tomahawks scored on their opening drive after taking possession near midfield and drove to the Bots one where Jonathan Dodson scored the first of his four touchdowns from a yard out and a 7-0 lead.

The Bolts, in their first season in the League have struggled to a 0-5 start and came into the game giving up nearly 81 points per game while only scoring 32 points came back and got a score on a 15 yard pass play to Kevin Chase to cut the lead to 7-6 as the conversion pass came up short.

But then scores by Dodson and wide receiver Timmy Beck and Micheal Presha blew the game open as the entire second half was played under the mercy rule.

Beck may have had one of spectacular touchdowns of the season as he caught a 14 yard score, but ran sideline to sideline, avoiding tacklers and staying inbound, the ran over the last man standing before flipping into the end zone in the third quarter.

The defense also scored twice on a fumble recovery and an interception return. The special teams score on a punt return as well and for good measure the defense also forced a safety.

Beck also tossed a touchdown pass on a 13 yard pass to Draeson Hetz fo make it 70-6 in the final quarter.

The Tomahawks improve to 4-1 and will be at home next Saturday against the 3-3 Williamsport Wildcats while the 0-6 Bolts will be on the road at Somerset County Miners who are also winless at 0-5.
